The couple planning a spring wedding will find a wealth of inspiration and stylish options in this styled shoot. Long sleeve bridal gowns are romantic and sensual, flowering branches and bulbs are just as lush as peonies and dahlias, and a lush greenery wall compensates for the bare branches of trees.

Botanical Wedding

We created the shoot around the idea of a bride in an English conservatory. She would have a regal elegance while being at home amidst pots, soil, and flowers. This is not the barefoot bride running through a garden, but a classic lady who appreciates timeless style and the art of tending plants and nurturing flowers. Starting with moss as the lush greenery for the basis of the floral design, we focused on the flowering branches and bulbs of spring. Spring flowers like purple Muscari, yellow daffodil, pink hellebore and pink blossoming branches offer a strong color palette. Ivory table linens and place settings provide a neutral backdrop to showcase these blooms.

One of the key pieces to this editorial is the greenery wall created by Brightly Ever After. Ferns, succulents, and air plants emerge from a background of moss evoking the ever-green environment of a conservatory. This wall can be a ceremony backdrop, set apart the head table at the reception and a fun location for selfies. Since spring light is weaker, elements that reflect and multiply the winter sun are essential. Cut glass goblets, glass topped terrariums, repoussé silver, and silk linens offered surfaces of off which the light bounces.

The sideways spring light is ideal for catching glimmering tiaras (like this one from Eden Luxe Bridal) and tennis bracelets (from Pave’ Jewelers). Hand-dyed gauze napkins and handmade porcelain plates contrast the elegance of the silver and cut glass. Loose, sprawling calligraphy in moss-green and silver continue laid-back elegance. The white on white cake is inspired by Ai Weiwei’s latest installation of porcelain succulents at Meijer Gardens. Sweets by E! crafted spring blossoms out of fondant to cover the middle tier of the wedding cake. Presented on a white table carpeted with Muscari and hyacinth, the cake’s minimalist color palette provides another contrast to the naturally elegant tablescape.
