Jen Leslie Events joined Elaine in her wedding day vision and did a perfect job executing it. Vibrant colors, beautiful florals, candles, an array of adorable signs by Chalk Boss and the yummiest of cakes…yes CAKES with an ‘S’ made by Candice of Eat More Cake. Elaine’s close friend Lane, from Simply Borrowed PDX, added vintage trays, pillows, and chairs to the decor.

Elaine & Erik

As we entered Elaine’s Bridal Suite at the Kimpton Alexis Hotel, we were met with friendly and warm hellos. Everyone was helping each other get ready and just enjoying being together. Elaine’s hair and reverse halo by the very talented Karen Reichert were stunning, and she couldn’t wait to get dressed to see Erik.

Meanwhile, Erik and the guys were ready and enjoyed a little Whiskey. Erik took a moment to open Elaine’s gift, which was beautifully personalized cufflinks. He was now ready for the rest of the day. I always love when a couple takes the time to exchange cards with emotional words before the first look. It sets the scene. Erik’s gift to Elaine was a jewelry shopping day in Paris on their honeymoon what better than quality time together, jewelry and um..PARIS!!

To settle their wedding day jitters, they decided to have their first look near the hotel. We found a great spot across the street and despite being yelled at by ‘Paul Blart’ (I mean a security guard) for moving a ‘Caution’ sign, Erik was with great anticipation. Elaine effortlessly strolled across the crosswalk to approach Erik who was beaming.

After portraits, we finally made it to Within Sodo for the ceremony and reception. We were greeted by family and friends eager to see these two tie the knot. They chose to have a fully unplugged and very intimate ceremony. You could almost hear the audience choke back tears as Elaine declared ‘It was always you’ in her vows. It too caused me to pause letting her words soak in.

After their emotional ceremony, they took some time to enjoy their friends and family before heading to the reception. The sun that so graciously appeared for us gave us an excellent sunset, and what better place than the back alley to enjoy it?

Close to the end of the evening after many laughs and shots of whiskey were consumed, I snuck the couple upstairs to the rooftop fire. Standing by the fire was difficult at that very moment for Erik as he was ready to hit the dance floor. It was at that moment that I saw, once again, why these two are so good together. Elaine whispered in his ear grabbing his hands they stood there each taking a deep breath. It was such a beautiful moment. That backlit, fireside image may just be one of my favorites to date.
